BUDDY HOLLY IS ALIVE AND WELL is a live-action proof-of-concept trailer written and directed by Robert Rugan, based on the cult novel Buddy Holly Is Alive and Well on Ganymede by Bradley Denton. Written by Robert Rugan, F. Paul Benz, and Steve Tomlin, the project was developed with Dahlia Street Films and producer Molly Mayeux, with Jon Heder attached to star as Oliver Vale. The story follows an ordinary electronics salesman whose life is turned upside down when television screens around the world suddenly cut to Buddy Holly, broadcasting from one of Jupiter’s moons with a cryptic message meant only for him — launching Oliver into a strange, comic, and apocalyptic adventure to save the world.
